Edens Legacy Order
Is your life lacking in some deeply troubling way?
Do you still hope for something better?
Of course you do, you just don't know what you want or how to get it.
Life happens to us and we react, what's wrong with that? We all do it. This aimless, unfulfilling life style leaves us deeply unhappy. Subconsciously we know that this is not how it is meant to be. We start out full of hope and bright ideals but gradually, one by one, as the years go by we are ground down. Ground into disillusioned, cynical, unhappy drones. At some point we just stop kicking and give in. We submit to the narrow parameters that seem to contain us. The illusion of a busy, productive and successful life is all that we have to sustain us. Let me state the painfully obvious, this is not enough. You only have to look at the world we live in. Are you happy? Honestly. The ultimately pointless conflict for wealth and success, cannot fulfil our responsibility to ourselves and to humanity. We settle for anaesthesia, distraction, everything we do is designed to keep us from thinking and reflecting on our miserable condition. The truth is that we live without clear objectives and without direction. We half believe in something, mere religion, because we can't believe in ourselves. We can't bear to be alone in the Universe. Our half beliefs are not challenged and enlarged, they are not reflected in how we live our lives. We settle instead for comfortable mediocrity, escapism, anaesthesia. We hide from our legacy, Edens Legacy, in a twisted maze of illusions, an easier, false, reality. We settle for the opiates of materialism, religion and love. We live in a manic hive of industry where doing is everything and being is nothing
"Life's a bitch and then you die." All life is suffering.
It can seem that way but it doesn't have to be like that. You can find peace and fulfilment, you can realise your own Divine potential, be like God, not God like. Amazing? No. The amazing thing is that I will hand it to you on a plate and you my friend will see the Truth, gulp and make your excuses. Fine, but don't say you were never told. Most people won't even complete this book because the Truth can set you free but to find it you have to turn your life upside down. If you read Edens Legacy you can never again pass the buck. All your comfortable illusions will be shattered. Unless you are prepared for a long and testing struggle to fulfil your Self, it would be better for you to find something safer to read.
So what's it going to be? Do you have something more important to do?
Why not go all the way? Order
Chapter 1 The Road to Hell
We fear the things that we do not understand. We do not understand our own existence, the essence of Self, therefore we fear it. We avoid it like the plague and yet it haunts us, it fascinates us. Of course it does, what could be more interesting to the individual than itself? How could we possibly hide from ourselves? Why on earth would we want to?
We all do it. We all fill our lives with rubbish to avoid ourselves. Although we have the intelligence to understand ourselves we do not begin the analysis because it is difficult. We also learn from a very early age, before Self develops, that our lives are expected to conform to a rigid set of rules and parameters. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few and of the one. Self is selfish and dangerous.
These rules are imposed on us by our biological conditioning and by the culture in which we live. This is well before we become Self aware, whilst we are still reliant and compliant children. These narrow boundaries are policed by our parents, family, peers, the people that we associate with, our tribe. By a society which has already largely failed to appreciate or even notice Self.
I call this coalition of powerful social forces, the Hive. These devastatingly potent social forces shape us from birth. Even before we are born our genes contain primal instincts which the Hive nourishes and expands. I will often refer to the Hive in the following pages. It is a hangover from our primitive past when our strength was our tribe.
The Hive’s greatest manifestation is the way in which it shapes your thoughts and therefore your actions. It only exists in your mind and the minds of those around you. Its principal tools are fear and conflict with which it moulds the evolutionary power that has largely shaped us, survival of the fittest.
In the following pages we will examine how it has affected you as an individual since your birth. We will also consider how to recognise and anticipate its tactics and how to neutralise them.
There exists then, a most damaging conflict between Self and society. The individual verses the Hive. We must recognise what it has done to us, unlearn much of what it has taught us and then, learn a different way.
The exploration of Self is daunting, even terrifying, but it is also deeply discouraged by our society. A society which promotes its own version of Self sacrifice for the good of the community. This is in fact nothing more than an animal instinct, an evolutionary strategy designed to elevate us to the top of the food chain. The pack is more powerful than the individual. A very successful strategy, but we are more than just another species, we are not wolves, we are Self aware.
“The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few and of the one.”
A seemingly noble sentiment, one that has led us to despair! It seems to promote the ideals of Self sacrifice but in fact the Hive has corrupted the ideal and made it a tool for Self suppression. It creates for us a split personality, the self that we project for society and the Self that we hide away and deny. How horrible, how destructive and how confusing. We are all paranoid schizophrenics, it’s just a question of degree!
If the basic building block of society, the individual, is fractured and confused, how can it be used to build anything good? The “many” i.e. society, merely magnifies and reflects the suffering of the individual. Look at our world!
Self sacrifice is indeed a noble ideal but you cannot sacrifice Self until you have first understood and possessed it.
Only when you have realised the value of Self does it become a fitting and necessary sacrifice.
Until society accepts the fact that the individual Self is the fundamental building block upon which we build our future we will always be victims of our own biological success. Like rabbits we will be controlled by Mother Nature through famine, drought, disease and war. In our blind struggle for survival we will destroy or be destroyed, for that is the nature of our current evolutionary path. We must elevate evolution from the unconscious to the conscious. This is in fact a revolution in evolution.
Every individual must be encouraged and taught to think without fear of the consequences. Only then can we bring to bear our greatest weapon, our own natural intelligence and innate Spirituality. We must all individually and collectively seek our own Enlightenment.
As individuals it is our destiny to be the catalyst, the blue touch paper, that starts a chain reaction that will ultimately elevate the Human race to its rightful place. Here, having given ourselves freely we discover an amazing truth,
Self sacrifice is the only route to personal fulfilment.
This Self sacrifice must be especially evident in the education of our children. After all, we love them, we cherish them, don’t we? The term education must be re-defined to incorporate a more rounded in depth curriculum that reflects this new thinking. Resources must then be applied lavishly, outside geography and politics, in a way that has not been seen before. On a par for example with what we spend on nuclear deterrents and star wars technology. Every child should be treated as the saviour of the Human race. That is exactly what they are!
Every pot bellied, starving urchin that dies of disease or starvation is a priceless treasure lost and a damning indictment of our species. Thirty thousand children die of starvation and neglect each and every day. Every truant child that is bullied in the playground or excluded from school for bullying is another tragedy, another millstone around our necks.
They, stagger into the world, the survivors, under the burden we have placed on their tiny shoulders. How can they thrive and prosper? How can we? For remember, they are us. We must seek to save ourselves so that we can save them and break the cycle of suffering. We have already been crippled, must they suffer exactly as we did?
Until we educate our children as we would in an ideal world we will never have an ideal world or even a tolerable world that we can be proud of. The world we live in is a powerful incentive to change. The suffering we see and endure denotes the need for change and yet we seem to merely get used to it. Worse, we teach our children that they must grow used to it as well! This is the Road to Hell, this is the Way that we have known and travelled from birth. This is what happened to you!
Within human society, there is an undermining intolerance of any deviation from the accepted norm. If you are different you are in trouble. Such deviations are a threat. They inherently challenge the ruling system. Those who would improve society highlight the weakness of those who have already accepted its flaws. They, in turn, feel threatened and they retaliate.
This intolerance is a biological trait. All primates depend heavily on the social cohesion of the community/tribe that they live in. Differences in behaviour, thinking or even physical appearance, are attacked ruthlessly, thoughtlessly. Change has to be strong enough to endure and to overcome before it is accepted and then adopted.
Children are well known for being cruel to other children who may have a different accent or be particularly shy or just unusual. Consequently children quickly learn to mimic and conform to the group norms. This learned behaviour is habit forming and addictive. To this day my blood runs cold when I hear the sound of children chanting in the playground around a pair of fighting youngsters,
“Fight, fight, fight.”
Such willing students, such enthusiasm for the subject. Each child constantly monitoring the reactions of those around, hiding and comparing. Each child secretly relieved that it is not them, secretly afraid of being next. Which one of them will say,
“Stop it, let him up, leave him alone?” Why none of course. They are children, they do what we teach them and what their animal instincts dictate. How many of us would come forward in a similar situation?
Taken a step further there is also a tendency to attack individuals that are different because they seem isolated and weak. This is a dominant form of animal behaviour and nurtures a deep seated desire for approval from the pack, at the expense of Self.
Then there is the comedian, desperately trying to deflect the pack with pathetic humour. There is the loner, the nerd, the bully, the geek, all struggling for a place. Who among us has not endured this suffering? We all want to belong. At this critical, tender age we learn to camouflage our true Self in a hundred ways and develop an outer distorted projection of ourselves. Here then is the mutilated seedling that may be crippled until the day it dies.
This is learned behaviour, not completely instinctive, and as we grow older so we progress in the dark arts of intolerance, criticism, manipulation, and bigotry. From the playground to the boardroom, to countless mass graves and slave camps. This tendency to follow the mob at the expense of Self, led us to the Third Reich, Communism, Capitalism, from one Empire to another, it led us to the crucifixion of Christ. We are all enslaved by fear. Fear of our peers, of being different, of ourselves.
Tremendous, insidious and unwavering pressure is brought to bear on those who dare to be different. Many therefore fall by the wayside and join the obedient, dumb ranks of bovine drones. They waste their whole lives in the stifling, stupor of the Hive. It is they who are especially unforgiving of any future questioning that may open old wounds and expose their weakness. They are dominated by cynicism, bitterness and broken dreams. They are bitter and they will attack and undermine you if you dare to be true to your Self.
In their subconscious Self loathing and guilt is a vicious desire to destroy anything that reminds them of the Self they have turned their backs on. I don’t mean that they will physically attack you, it’s not that easy. Their weapons are peer pressure, guilt and fear. Incredible strength and resolve is required to endure this pre programmed, unrelenting attack.
Few have that strength, but from those few must come the many and finally the all. Our evolution must make a quantum leap from the biological to the Spiritual or humanity will exercise it’s own freedom to destroy itself.
How can we achieve anything other than our own propagation if we do not value the individual, if we do not study and cherish ourselves? A society of Self possessed, open minded individuals would value the questioning process. A society of Self repressed, Self loathing cynics would fight it tooth and nail. It is this basic inner conflict, which leads us to fill our lives with illusion and Self deceit. It prevents us from addressing a problem which we are well able to tackle if only we would allow ourselves.
Modern living, commonly referred to as the rat race, is a deeply unsatisfying, corrosive, miserable experience. It leads us into unfulfilling careers, tortuous relationships and bad health, both physical and mental.
In extreme cases we are driven to Self destruction through alcohol and drugs or just plain old suicide. No other known species will actually make a conscious decision to take its own life rather than endure the pain of an unfulfilled, pointless existence. (About Schmidt, American Beauty, appendix 2). It is acceptable, even admirable, in some quarters to achieve freedom from our consciousness in huge amounts of alcohol and mindless debauchery. (Hurly Burly, appendix 2).
It has become an industry, Club 18-30, Falaraki, the Mediterranean coast of Greece and Spain. Young people without beliefs or understanding, like lost tormented souls writhing in agony. Friday night becomes the only reason for enduring the existence of the drone within the Hive.
Then there is retail therapy, an all too common phenomenon. The sad trawling through piles of glittering trash. The mad scramble to expend valuable resources on gear which we do not need or really want. There is the desperate industry of the DIY fiend and the frenetic energy of the compulsive gardener.
Two of the most common deceptions we use to distract ourselves are that pillar of our society, the Work Ethic, and the search for El Dorado, love. More people use these distractions than perhaps any other. The work ethic, duty, is seen as an admirable quality engendered into us from birth, sometimes at the expense of our lives. (Remains Of The Day, appendix 2). Here we can find status, respect and more importantly, oblivion. We can indefinitely and comfortably avoid anything of substance in our lives until the day we die.
The search for love leads us to lust, relationships, partnership, marriage, families, divorce and so on and so on. Combined with work, an admirable means of suppressing Self. To dream of “True Love” is to undermine Self. It is to believe that Self is not enough, unacceptable, insufficiently important. To believe that we must latch onto someone else to be enough, to keep society happy, is to deny completely the value of Self. That is not to say that true love cannot exist, it can, but not before Self. More on theses two later in the book.
More mundane but just as pathetic is the hair shirt of charitable works, civic duty or for the truly incorrigible, politics. We even use our own families as a distraction putting everything into rearing the children only to find our lives empty when they leave.
There is nothing inherently wrong with any of the above activities. It is just that we often use them to avoid the reality of our personal responsibilities. We are not just another species content to work away unthinking. We must be more than that. Until we have mastered ourselves or are at least studying Self we can be of no use to anyone else and our species will ultimately perish unnoticed.
Life can seem interminable when it is empty. We vainly try to fill it with distractions and yet ultimately, especially for those full of regrets, it is but a moment. Your life is a finite resource, it will end, of that you can be certain. It doesn’t matter how old you are, it matters only that you begin to peel away the layers of Self deceit and illusion and get to know and love your true Self.
It is often only towards the end that realisation dawns. Ironically we are all familiar with the near death experience that changes someone’s life. The car smash, the heart bypass, the brush with cancer. We are all familiar with the experience. It usually washes over us in a moment of titillation as we read about it or hear about it in the pub.
“Brain haemorrhage, 41 and fell into his cereal at the breakfast table!” We all nod soberly and say,
“You never know what’s around the corner.” Then we forget all about it as quickly as we can.
We hear but we do not listen. Why is it, that as supposedly the only sentient species on this planet, we suffer such torment? Why do we fail to learn from the accumulated wisdom, which surrounds us? Why do we repeat the same mistakes over and over again? Even our own experiences can be ignored or fail to have any lasting impact. We seem to have an incredible ability to avoid the responsibility of our own sentient consciousness.
Yet it gnaws us, it hounds us, even in our subconscious it follows unceasing, it will never release us. It is this legacy that we hide from, Edens Legacy. Since we first tasted the apple from the Tree of Knowledge we have fled from God, from ourselves. In hiding we create our own suffering through our fear and Self imposed ignorance. In trying to avoid the inevitable we create our own living hell.
